"For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink, I was stranger, and you took Me in, I was naked, and you clothed Me, I was sick, and you looked after Me, I was in prison, and you visited Me." Matthew 25: 36-37 On behalf of Archbishop Gustavo, we invite you and your family to participate in this year’s Archbishop’s Appeal for Shared Ministries by offering a sacrificial gift. Our theme for this year’s Appeal is Our Journey Together. Let us journey together to financially support the formation of priests and deacons who will serve our parish soon. Your financial support helps prepare lay leaders to serve as catechists, chaplains, and lectors. It offers a Catholic education to families in need. It broadcasts televised Masses and helps expand our reach through other digital media. Your financial support to this Appeal will share Christ’s love as it feeds, clothes, shelters, and cares for the most vulnerable. All these shared ministries, our ministries support our neighbors in need and further the mission of the Catholic Church. Our parish goal is full participation. To accomplish this, we need your support. Every family should participate by making a gift to this appeal. Any gift, any amount will make a difference in somebody’s life. I invite you to pray and find it in your heart to make a sacrificial gift to this year’s Appeal. Gifts can be given: Text-To-Give: (210) 750-6712; keyword APPEAL - Online at www.archsa.org/appeal Or if necessary, using the parish Appeal envelope All these ways of giving to the Appeal are safe and fast. If you need help with it, please let us know, we will be happy to assist you. May God bless you for your willingness to share your prayers and financial support to this Appeal.

Habitat for Humanity works with families earning between 20% – 80% of the area median income. Families are accepted into the Habitat program based on their need, ability to pay, and their willingness to partner. Applicants must be residents of Bexar County. Once accepted, first time homebuyers are eligible to buy a home from Habitat with a 20 – 25 year zero percent interest mortgage. Families spend a minimum of 300 hours investing in “sweat equity” where they support and help build their own home and the homes of their neighbors. Monthly payments average $675 (including taxes and insurance). Habitat offers Home Ownership Readiness Training. It provide a comprehensive education program covering significant home ownership related topics, from money management to home repairs, to families pre-qualified for their home building program. Funding for Habitat for Humanity comes through partnerships with individuals, corporations, foundations, faith organizations and civic groups. It costs approximately $95,000 to build a Habitat home including materials, tools and supplies (excluding land or infrastructure). Habitat relies on private sources of funding to build our affordable homes, and Habitat only accepts government funding for land acquisition, infrastructure, administrative and site preparation expenses. Since the success of our Home Centers fund our administrative expenses, 100% of every donated dollar goes directly into our building program. At Habitat, volunteers are the heart of our organization. From board members to those directly involved in construction, volunteers make the difference. Traditionally, more than 15,500 volunteers assist in various Habitat activities each year. Our volunteers build the homes, raise funds, work in our administrative offices, provide lunch for volunteers at the construction site, and assist at our Habitat Home Centers. Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio is an ecumenical, Christian organization working in partnership with God’s people in need to build modest, decent and affordable homes without interest or profit. Habitat works with low-income families who would not otherwise be able to afford a home. They are not a charity or a “handout” program, but rather help families help themselves. Once accepted, first time homebuyers are eligible to buy a home from Habitat with a 20 – 25 year zero percent interest mortgage. Families spend a minimum of 300 hours investing in “sweat equity” where they support and help build their home and the homes of their neighbors. Monthly payments average $675 (including taxes and insurance). As of September 2021, HFH of San Antonio has built affordable homes with 1200 families in need. This year they will build 51 homes for 51 low-income families. Look for upcoming information about our SEAS Habitat Project!
